About Us

Nova Children's Project is a non-profit organisation dedicated to improving the lives of children and young people with disabilities. We run clubs and playschemes during evenings, weekends and school holidays, giving them the opportunity to have fun in a safe and secure environment, whilst giving families a much-needed break from their caring role. We currently support children and young people, aged 9-25, who have moderate to severe learning disabilities with associated behaviours that challenge and/or complex health needs.
Our History

Our dedicated team ran a specialist short break service for children and young people with disabilities from 2006-2018 under a large, national charity. In November 2017, we received the news that the charity we worked for had decided it was not financially viable to continue and the service closed in March 2018. We were devastated for all the young people and their families who would be losing a service that had become such an integral part of their lives and a source of vital respite for parents. In order to avoid this happening, we decided to go it alone, leading to the creation of Nova Children's Project.

Nova Children's Project CIC was established as a Community Interest Company (registration number: 11143788) in January 2018.  It operates on a 'not for profit' basis with all assets used exclusively for the benefit of the community. We are funded solely by grants, donations and fundraisers.
